Yangshuo is located approximately 65Kms from Guilin.
There are two types of buses for this journey
1. Express luxury buses leave from Guilin bus station. Cost is 13 Yuan. Buses leave every half an hour from 7am to 8 pm. This is a new service which commenced on the 1st of December, 2003. These buses are very comfortable and non-smoking. The only stop is Yangshuo bus station. This is the best way to get to Yangshuo from Guilin
2. Regular local buses. These leave from Guilin railway station forecourt. These are much more basic and you are certain to have smokers around you. Cost is 10 Yuan for the trip and will stop several times to pick up and drop off people. This is a real experience
Warning. There are some people who charge you extra just for taking you to the bus. It is up to you to pay extra but there is no need.
Also, some bus drivers(Only the regular buses) drop you off before reaching the Yangshuo bus station in order to get a commission for dropping you off at a hotel outside of the town centre. Yangshuo bus station is the last stop and everyone in the bus will get off here. From the bus station, it is a very short walk to most hotels.
Guilin Airport
For travellers flying into Guilin airport there are two ways to make your way to Yangshuo:-
1- Take the airport CAAC bus from the airport to the railway station and then take the local bus. This is by far the cheapest way and you really get to travel with the locals.
2 - Arrange a private vehicle to be waiting for you at the airport which will then take you directly to your hotel in Yangshuo. We have a range of vehicles including, taxis, mini vans and buses to accommodate any number of travellers.

Kunming
Regular trains are best for this journey. There are direct trains to Guilin. Train K182 departs Kunming at 14:39 and arrives in Guilin Bei station at 20:16 the next day. From Guilin Bei. You will need to get a taxi to the main station in Guilin to catch the bus to Yangshuo. If the train is late, you may miss the last bus to Yangshuo.
Or perhaps you would prefer the faster option of taking a train to Nanning. Train number 2006 departs Kunming at 16:17 and arrives into Nanning at 06:37 the next morning. Then walk to the bus station in Nanning and catch the express bus to Guilin. These buses leave regularly and take 4-5 hours. On arrival in Guilin, you will need to make the short walk to the railway station for buses to Yangshuo.
There is now a new train which departs every 2nd day. The train number is 2060 and departs at 20:41 arriving into Guilin station 23 hours later. Cost of a middle bunk in the hard sleepers is 230 Yuan
Thailand
There are now regular non-stop flights from Bangkok to Guilin with Bangkok air. The flights depart on Wednesday, Friday and Sundays. The flight number is PG618 departing at 13:10 and arriving at 16:50.
Vietnam
1. There are twice weekly direct trains from Hanoi to Guilin. The trip takes about 24 hours.
2. You could also take a train to the border town of Lang Son and cross the Friendship pass into China. You would be arriving into the border town of Pingxiang. From here you can catch a train to Nanning and the bus to Guilin or you can catch a direct bus to Guilin
Rest of China
There are many trains that make their way to Guilin from the other parts of China. For those who do not have so much time or prefer a more relaxed form of travel then we can suggest flying into Guilin. Guilin has an international airport with connections all over China as well as Hong Kong, Macau, Korea and Japan. If you take a taxi from Guilin airport to Yangshuo, you will be asked anything from 300 Yuan to 400 Yuan by the taxi drivers waiting at Guilin airport. You are better off arranging a taxi directly from yangshuo. the cost of this would not be any more than 250 yuan.
